NEVA MASQUERADE
Pointed cats have always been part of the origins of the Siberian.
Introduction
The Neva Masquerade is the sisterbreed of the Siberian. It is a semi-longhaired Siamese pointed domestic cat breed, which originates in Russia. Compact, strong and broad-chested body covered with dense, double coat makes them a true Siberian warrior! But despite their strength, these are gentle cats that enjoy human company and charm with their personality.
History
Pointed cats have always been part of the origins of the Siberian. While some federations refer to a colourpoint Siberian, the breed was officially recognised in FIFe as Neva Masquerade in 2011.
Appearance
The Neva Masquerade is a strong and powerfully built cat, with strong hindquarters and large, well-rounded paws. Their body size varies from medium to large. Neva Masquerade have firm, barrel-shaped torsos. The general impression of the body is circles and roundness, and females are significantly smaller than males. Head is slightly oval with soft contours and broad cheeks. The eyes are large, oval with slight slanting what give little bit melancholic look. The distinctive double coat, hard at touch, with lots of volume and density helped them to survive in hard weather conditions.
Temperament
The Neva Masquerade is a powerful agile cat, but despite the size they are very gentle and clever enough to avoid any obstacles on the way. They love to play and interact with their human family and with other pets. Neva Masquerade are intelligent and quickly learn how to communicate with their “human servants” to get more treats and cuddles from them.
